TINDHARIA tea estate - A new source for quality
Fragrant tea bushes growing amidst 3 streams in an environment blessed by mother nature with flowing streams, waterfalls and greenery - Welcome to Tindharia or the land of 3 streams.
Our group has bought Tindharia in November 2004 as part of our drive for backward integration and in keeping with our philosophy to provide improved qualities to tea lovers. The estate had been in a fairly neglected state and required vast improvements in its factory and health of plantation. We immediately embarked on a complete overhaul of the factory and a total modernization was accomplished within 3 months at considerable investment with the complete involvement of the garden management and labour.
The plantation has seen us incorporate the best methods available to nurse the soil and bushes back to a healthy state. This will be an ongoing endeavour and a program has been drawn up for extensive new plantation using high quality clonal bushes.
The estate starts at an elevation of 400 metres and extends to 1000 metres, producing an annual crop of 80 MT. 30% of the plantation is under China bushes, 40% hybrids and 30% Assam bushes. The percentages will change in due course as the new sections come into bearing.
Our passion for tea, commitment to the estate and the drive for quality has instilled a new vigour and eagerness in the labour and local population. The partnership between management and labour promises to ensure that Tindharia tea estate will be the new name in a range of quality and exotic teas from Darjeeling.
